WOMAN INDICTED FOR MURDER AFTER HER VICTIM DIES TWO MONTHS LATER FROM COMPLICATIONS RELATED TO HIS BEING SHOT IN THE UPPER BACK

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “Following a confrontation with the victim, this woman grabbed her gun from her apartment and shot the victim in the upper back after he had left her residence and was walking away.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Salina Alishia Alrawahna, age 35, for two counts of Murder with Specifications (UF) and one count of Having Weapons While Under Disability (F-3), for a total of three counts in connection to the January 31st, 2017 shooting of David R. Nutt, age 40, that occurred at 2861 Wicklow Road on the west side of Columbus.  The victim had apparently given Alrawahna his cash card and went up to her apartment to retrieve it from her.  It is alleged that she refused to give it to him, so he grabbed her pocketbook and left.  It is further alleged that Alrawahna grabbed her gun and shot Nutt after he had left and was walking away.  “There are two counts of murder with only one deceased victim, because under Ohio law, there are different ways to commit the crime of murder and it is my practice to charge all ways that the crime was committed”, O’Brien stated.  O’Brien further stated, “Alrawahna has a prior burglary conviction from an offense that occurred in 2001 which is the basis of the WUD count in the indictment”.  Although the victim initially survived the January shooting, it left the victim primarily paralyzed.  “Two months later, the victim died from lung complications which were a proximate result of the shooting,” O’Brien stated.
