A Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Diego Montoya Gonzalez, 20, for allegedly attempting to rape a child in Columbus.
Gonzalez was indicted August 17 on the following counts:
In addition to this case, Gonzalez was indicted on July 30, 2026, on charges related to the alleged rape of another 11-year-old girl in Grove City.
Case Background
On June 29, 2026, Columbus Police were dispatched to a sex crimes report. The mother who called 911 stated her 11-year-old daughter had been in conversation with someone on TikTok, whom she believed to be an adult. Police later determined the adult to be Diego Montoya Gonzalez.
After reviewing the messages and interviewing the child, the officers concluded that Gonzalez had attempted to solicit sexual images and videos from the child and planned to meet the child in a nearby park to engage in sexual activity.
He’ll be arraigned in courtroom 2B at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas today, August 19, 2026 at 1:00.
