Case Update

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man will serve at least 27 years in prison after pleading guilty in six separate felony cases involving two drive-by shootings, an armed robbery, illegal possession of automatic firearms, and a police pursuit.

On October 19, 2026, Jacob Driscoll pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault, aggravated robbery, failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, and two counts of unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance.

Under the jointly recommended sentence, Driscoll will serve a minimum of 27 years and a maximum of 28½ years in prison.

Case Background

The earliest case stems from a shooting on March 13, 2025, at a residence on East Main Street. Multiple people were inside the home when it was struck by gunfire shortly after 3:30 a.m. One victim was shot in the back while lying in bed and was paralyzed from the waist down. Investigators recovered 42 shell casings from the scene.

On Sept. 17, 2025, Driscoll was involved in another shooting at a residence on South Third Street. Three people were inside the home when it was struck multiple times by gunfire. Investigators recovered approximately 30 spent shell casings from four different firearms. No one inside the home was injured.

During the investigation, detectives also obtained social-media evidence showing Driscoll possessing handguns equipped with Glock switches, devices that enable a semiautomatic firearm to fire automatically.

On Nov. 20, 2025, Driscoll and another man arranged to meet a victim for what the victim believed was a firearm trade. After the victim handed Driscoll a loaded firearm, the two men robbed him and fled with the firearm.

Three days later, on Nov. 23, 2025, a Franklin County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Driscoll near Georgesville and Industrial Mile roads. Driscoll fled from the deputy before crashing on the entrance ramp to Interstate 270 North. Deputies recovered the stolen AR-style firearm from inside the vehicle.

Several of the incidents involved multiple defendants, whose cases remain pending.

The cases were investigated in close coordination with the Columbus Division of Police Non-Fatal Shooting Team. The Franklin County Prosecutor's Office thanks the detectives assigned to the team for their extensive work across these investigations and their continued partnership with our office.
