Man Pleads Guilty to Charges Related to the Shooting of Officers

Case Update

Today, Daveonte Dixon pled guilty to six charges, all felonies of the first degree, and related specifications.  The charges arose from a May 28, 2025 shooting of two Mifflin Township police officers and a May 30, 2025 shooting at four Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies.  Specifically, Dixon pled guilty to:

  • One count of Attempted Murder, with a 7-year firearm specification for shooting at a police officer and a repeat violent offender specification;
  • One count of Felonious Assault, with a 7-year firearm specification for shooting at a police officer;
  • Four additional counts of Felonious Assault, one of which included a 3-year firearm specification for using a firearm during the commission of a felony offense and one of which included a 1-year specification for possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony.

For this case alone, Dixon faces a minimum sentence of 30-35.5 years and a potential maximum sentence of 94-99.5 years in prison.  Further, regardless of the length of the term, Dixon will be required to serve every day of this sentence.

Dixon also faces a separate sentencing for a prior conviction of Aggravated Burglary.  For that case, he faces an additional maximum term of 11 years in prison.

In total, Dixon faces a maximum total term of 105-110.5 years in prison. The court will sentence him at a later date to be determined.

“Today’s plea is a step toward accountability. Mr. Dixon’s days-long violent crime spree against members of law enforcement was reprehensible,” said Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Shayla Favor. “The men and women who put on a badge to serve this community deserve to go home to their families. His actions endangered their lives and jeopardized the safety of Mifflin Township residents. I am grateful the injured officers have recovered, and had a voice in the resolution.”

Case Background

On May 28, 2025, a Mifflin Township Police Officer observed a vehicle blocking traffic in the middle of Agler Road and initiated a stop.  A second officer arrived shortly thereafter. During the stop, the front seat passenger, later identified as Daveonte Dixon, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. As the officers pursued him, Dixon allegedly pulled a handgun and opened fire, striking both officers before fleeing the scene.

Dixon evaded capture for two days with the assistance of several individuals. On May 30, law enforcement located him at a residence on Thelma Drive. When Franklin County Sheriff’s SWAT officers attempted to make contact, Dixon fired multiple rounds from a rifle —targeting four deputies outside. When gunfire ceased, officers entered the home and found Dixon with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.  Upon release from the hospital, he was transported to jail where he has remained held without bond during the pendency of this case.

The victims in this case have approved of this resolution.
