Defendant:

Yesterday, the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office Nuisance Abatement Unit and the Columbus City Attorney’s Office Property Action Team shut down a known drug house on the south side of Columbus.

On August 5, the Nuisance Abatement Unit and the Property Action Team filed a lawsuit to declare 669 East Mithoff Street a public nuisance. A months-long investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the premises was used for drug trafficking and possession.

Since January 2023, Columbus Police were called to the location 29 times for criminal activity, including shots fired, cutting/stabbing, assault, drug overdoses, domestic violence, and stolen vehicles. Neighbors have submitted dozens of complaints about drug activity at the property.

“This drug house has been a magnet for crime and a threat for the people who call this neighborhood home,” said Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Shayla Favor. “Nuisance abatement is more than a legal tool, it’s a strategy to shut down dangerous drug activity, protect public safety, and return peace to our communities. Closing this property is a critical step toward giving this neighborhood the safety and stability it deserves.”

David and Michael Diamond, who are deceased, are listed as the property owners. Michael Diamond’s son, Anthony Diamond, was living in the residence operating as a drug house.

On May 8, 2025 the Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics search warrant at the house. Deputies seized more than 162 grams of narcotics, including cocaine and crystal meth. Deputies also found a pill press, a 9mm handgun, and two containers of ammunition.

“We’re cracking down on drug traffickers who push deadly narcotics into our streets and threaten the health and safety of our neighborhoods,” said Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein. “Thanks to the Property Action Team, the County Prosecutor’s Office and the Division of Police for shutting this drug den down and reclaiming this area of the south side for law abiding residents and families.”

The Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office would like to thank the Columbus Division of Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s office for their work and partnership in shutting this property down.
