The Civil Division of the Office of the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney is "the County's law firm". Section 309.09 provides for the prosecuting attorney to be the legal advisor to all county officials, townships and agencies. In addition, the prosecuting attorney shall "prosecute and defend" all suits and actions where these officials, boards or agencies are parties, or as directed.
Our Civil Division represents the interests of its clients in state and federal courts, as well as a variety of administrative settings. This division also provides its clients with additional legal services in the areas of employment litigation, contract review and enforcement, recouping taxes, real property sale and/or purchase and zoning and land use issues.
The Civil Division includes assistant prosecuting attorneys working directly with the Treasurer, the Auditor, the Franklin County Board of Health, and the Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services.
