1 OF 3 MEN PLEADS GUILTY TO RAPE OF TWO WOMEN BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT “IT WOULD BE A FUN THING TO DO”

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “At the time of these offenses, this 18 year old teenager raped two women within two weeks of each other. During the second offense, he and his two teenage co-defendants were armed with a gun, a pipe, and a machete.” Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that Gerardo Hernandez-Carrera, now age 20, plead guilty today to two counts of rape, in connection to the rapes of two women that occurred on September 9th and 22nd of 2014. In the September 9th sexual assault, the victim was picked up in the area of Highland and Sullivant Avenue, was driven to a secluded area, and was then raped. She escaped and flagged down a passerby for help. In the September 22nd attack, the victim was picked up in the area of Sullivant and Hague Avenues, was driven to a secluded area, and was beaten and raped. A security guard patrolling a nearby apartment complex heard her pleas for help and directed law enforcement to the area for help. Hernandez-Carrera was sentenced today to 15 years in prison. Two of his co-defendants, Bogar Diaz, age 16 at the time, and David Pablo, age 17 at the time, have both been bound over to Common Pleas Court to be tried as adults.
