Defendant: Art Schlichter

Today, Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned a 13 count indictment against Art Schlichter for Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity (F-1) and multiple counts of Theft. Between 2009 and November 2010 Schlichter is alleged to have obtained over $100,000.00 from Anita L. Barney. As defined by Ohio law, at age 68, Barney is an elderly person, which increases the potential penalties for the theft. The indictment outlines a series of thefts over the past several years with both named and unnamed victims, as well as several currently unindicted co-conspirators in the RICO count. “If convicted on all charges, Schlichter faces a maximum sentence of over 30 years incarceration”, O’Brien stated.
