RAPE OF APARTMENT SECURITY OFFICER BY 18 YEAR OLD SUSPECT LINKED BY CODIS HIT

Defendant: Nehemiah Imanuel Hunter

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, "Just as this armed security guard was completing her rounds, she was robbed and raped." Prosecutor Ron O'Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has indicted Nehemiah Imanuel Hunter, age 18, in connection to the attack that occurred on May 31, 2017 at the Ashley Village Apartments located at 2272 Sunshine Place on the southeast side of town. Hunter has been indicted for one count of Rape (F-1), one count of Aggravated Robbery (F-1), one count of Felonious Assault (F-2), and one count of Sexual Battery (F-3), for a total of four counts. The 38 year old victim was on foot patrol in the apartment complex when she was rendered unconscious after a blow to the back of her head, was robbed of her gun and holster, and was raped. Columbus Police detectives submitted the victim's sexual assault exam kit to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. A DNA profile on the rapist was established and entered into CODIS. On July 13th, 2017 there was a CODIS hit to Nehemiah Hunter. Arraignment for Hunter is set for Friday, July 28th, 2017 at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
