Defendant: Alexander L. Mellon

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This female victim was jogging around Antrim Lake during the middle of the afternoon when she was attacked and violently shoved to the ground by this suspect, which resulted in her wrist being broken.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Alexander L. Mellon, age 28, for one count of Felonious Assault (F-2).  The indictment alleges that on May 23rd, 2017, Mellon was walking on the path that circles Antrim Lake near Worthington, where he encountered a female jogger and without cause or justification proceeded to knock her to the ground breaking her wrist. The suspect walked away after the attack and the victim screamed for help and called 911.  “A male in the park assisted the victim, heard the description she provided to the 911 dispatcher, he circled back around the path, and took a photograph of the suspect while he was still inside the park,” O’Brien stated.  Arraignment for Mellon is set for Friday, August 18th, 2017 at 1:30 pm at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
