Defendant: Jevonte Lemar Tucker

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This innocent toddler was brutally beaten from head to toe while in the care of his mother’s boyfriend.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment on Jevonte Lemar Tucker in connection to the November 9, 2017 severe beating of a 2 year old toddler on the east side of Columbus.  Jevonte Tucker, the 23 year old boyfriend to the child’s mother, has been indicted for one count of Felonious Assault (F-2), one count of Endangering Children (F-2), one count of Endangering Children (F-3), and one count of Domestic Violence (F-5), for a total of four counts.
In the middle of the afternoon, when the maternal grandmother arrived home after work, she found her grandson unresponsive in her living room. She called 911, medics arrived at her residence in the 5300 block of Adderley Avenue, and they transported the toddler to Children’s Hospital PICU.  “It is alleged that the toddler was repeatedly beaten by Tucker because the toddler refused to listen to Tucker’s instructions on cleaning up after himself,” O’Brien stated.  Count four in the indictment pertains to a Domestic Violence incident involving Tucker’s pregnant ex-girlfriend that occurred on October 23, 2017, and alleges that Tucker physically harmed her.  Arraignment for Tucker is scheduled for Wednesday, November 22nd at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
