Defendant: Shelton Demond Burnette

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This is a sad case of domestic violence where this man stabbed his wife over two dozen times because he felt like she belittled him in front of her adult daughters.”  Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Shelton Demond Burnette, age 42, for one count of Attempted Murder (F-1) and one count of Felonious Assault (F-2) in connection to the December 9th, 2017 stabbing of his wife, V’Notta D. Burnette, age 41, that occurred at their residence located at 1073 Irongate Lane in Whitehall.  At approximately 11:00 pm, Police received a 911 call regarding a stabbing in progress.  “The victim had lacerations all over her body, medics transported her to Grant Hospital, and she was immediately taken into surgery,” O’Brien stated.  Police took the suspect into custody after they found him hiding in a semi parked behind the  residence.  O’Brien further stated, “As of last Friday, the victim was still in the hospital recovering from her injuries.” Arraignment for Burnette is scheduled for this Wednesday, December 20th at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
