Defendant: Keith J. McCauley II

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “During an argument, Keith McCauley produced a handgun and shot his wife numerous times before she fled from the house into a neighbor’s yard where she collapsed.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned a three count indictment on Keith J. McCauley II, age 39, in connection to the February 15th, 2018 murder of his wife Lucille McCauley, age 39, that occurred while their nine year old son was in the home located at 6200 Chinaberry Drive on the east side of Columbus.
The counts in McCauley’s indictment include one count of Aggravated Murder and two counts of Murder, with all three counts having Firearm Specifications.  “There are multiple murder charges regarding the one victim death because there are different methods to commit the crime of murder and the Prosecutor’s Office typically charges all methods,” O’Brien stated.
Following the shooting, the neighbor saw the victim lying in his yard and called 911.  O’Brien further stated, “Medics arrived at the scene and transported the victim to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.  SWAT officers were dispatched to the scene and eventually arrested the defendant who sat in the front yard with his dog in a standoff with police that lasted for hours.”  O’Brien commended the Columbus Police Department for their apprehension of McCauley.  Arraignment for this case is set for Wednesday, February 28th, 2018, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 South High Street in downtown Columbus.
