MURDER INDICTMENT FILED ON TEENAGER FOR SHOOTING DEATH OF HIS GIRLFRIEND’S FATHER

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “During an argument between a father and his daughter, this teenage boyfriend produced a handgun and started firing shots, wounding his girlfriend and killing her father.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned a two count indictment on Jordyn Dorian Taelor Preston, age 18, in connection to the December 10th, 2017 murder of his girlfriend’s father Van A. Johnson, age 54, and wounding of his girlfriend Elyzabeth Johnson, age 18, that occurred in the front yard of the Johnson’s home located in the 2400 block of Ottawa Drive on the north east side of Columbus.  The counts in Preston’s indictment include one count of Murder and one count of Felonious Assault, with both counts having Firearm Specifications.  “Following the shooting, Preston took his girlfriend’s silver Ford Mustang and fled the scene.  On March 30th, Preston was arrested in Springfield, Ohio and on April 3rd, Preston was transported to the Franklin County Jail,” O’Brien stated.  Arraignment for this case is set for Monday, April 16th, 2018, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 South High Street in downtown Columbus.
