MAN INDICTED FOR SHOOTING A POLICE OFFICER WHO WAS EXECUTING A SEARCH WARRANT

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “While on the front porch of a residence executing a search warrant, the Columbus Police Narcotics Bureau tactical team was shot at from inside the home, striking one of the officers in the foot.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Dennis Earl Green, Jr., age 22, for one count of Felonious Assault (F-1) with both 3 year and 7 year Firearm Specifications.  The search warrant was executed at a home located at 1543 Cordell Avenue in Columbus.  “Officer Robert LaGore was holding a barricade, ahead of the entry team, when shots were fired from out of the front window,” O’Brien stated.  The entry team continued into the structure and several individuals, including Green,  were detained for questioning.  Officer LaGore was transported from the scene by medics in stable condition.  Police confiscated numerous firearms as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia from the home.  O’Brien commended the police for their thorough investigation of this ongoing case.  Arraignment for Green is set for Wednesday, July 11th, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
