Defendant: William Anthony Bohonyi, Jr.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This diving coach is alleged to have used his position to prey upon a minor who was a student athlete with the OSU Diving Club.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against William Anthony Bohonyi, Jr., age 32, for three counts of Sexual Battery (F-3) and for one count of Pandering Sexually-Oriented Matter Involving a Minor (F-2), for a total of four counts.  In 2014, Bohonyi was a coach for The Ohio State University Dive Club.  The university learned of sexual misconduct allegations involving Bohonyi on August 10th, 2014, and placed Bohonyi on administrative leave that same day.  An administrative investigation was opened that resulted in his termination from OSU on August 29th, 2014, and OSU Police did a criminal investigation.  The indictment alleges that in July of 2014, Bohonyi engaged in a sexual relationship with the minor who was a member of the OSU Dive Club, and later created a video of his misconduct.  Arraignment for Bohonyi will be set for a day next week at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
