MAN INDICTED FOR THE RAPE AND MURDER OF ONE WOMAN AND THE RAPE OF TWO ADDITIONAL WOMEN ALL WITHIN A FIVE MONTH TIME SPAN

Defendant: Troy Len Hairston

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “Within a five month time span, this man kidnapped and raped three women, killing one of them.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment on Troy Len Hairston, age 48, in connection to the rape of a 70 year old woman that occurred on September 26th, 2018, the rape of a 57 year old woman that occurred on February 24th, 2019, and the rape and murder of Tonya Lanette Daniels, age 47, that also occurred on or about February 24th, 2019.  Hairston has been indicted for one count of Aggravated Murder, two counts of Murder, three counts of Kidnapping, and one count of Aggravated Robbery (all with Repeat Violent Offender Specifications), four counts of Rape (all with Repeat Violent Offender Specifications and Sexually Violent Predator Specifications) and one count of Tampering With Evidence.  “Hairston has a prior rape conviction from 1994 which is the basis of the Repeat Violent Offender specifications in the indictment,” O’Brien stated.  Arraignment for Hairston is set for next Monday, March 18th at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
