MAN INDICTED FOR 18 ARMED ROBBERIES AT GAS STATIONS WITHIN AN 8 MONTH TIME SPAN

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This man committed eighteen armed robberies of gas stations/convenience stores in both Franklin County and Delaware County over the time span of eight months.”  Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned a fifty-six count indictment against Aaris Douglas Payne, age 25, for armed robberies and kidnappings that occurred between July 30th, 2018 and March 17th, 2019, at the locations listed below:

            The counts in the indictment include Aggravated Robbery, Robbery, Kidnapping, and Safecracking (all with firearm specifications).  “All but one of the robberies occurred in the early morning hours between 3:40 am-6:45 am,” O’Brien stated.  O’Brien commended the Columbus, Westerville, and Gahanna Police Departments for their diligence and investigation of the case.  Arraignment for Payne is set for Friday, March 29th, 2019, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
