Defendant: Darrell Labishop Rodgers, Jr.

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien stated, “This woman was walking near the OSU campus, when she was grabbed by a stranger at gun point, forced up against a wall, where she was robbed and repeatedly raped by this defendant.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an eight count indictment on Darrell Labishop Rodgers, Jr., age 20, for five counts of (F-1) Rape, one count of (F-1) Kidnapping, one count of (F-2) Robbery, and one count of (F-3) Robbery, in connection to the August 17th, 2019 rape of a 24 year old victim.  On that morning, the victim was walking near the intersection of 9th Avenue and High Street when the defendant approached the victim, robbed her of all of her belongings, and ordered the victim at gunpoint to perform numerous sexual acts with him.  After the sexual assault, Rodgers left the scene and the victim called the police.  Officers secured a possible suspect near the crime scene who matched the description given by the victim and the victim later positively identified the defendant as her attacker.  Arraignment for Rodgers is set for Wednesday, August 28th, 2019, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
