GRANDFATHER INDICTED FOR RAPE OF HIS 4 YEAR OLD GRANDSON

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This man performed oral sex and other sex acts with his 4 year old grandson.”  Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Walter Luther Smith, age 42, in connection to the July 1^st to August 3^rd, 2019 sexual abuse of his 4 year old grandson at a home located on N. Guilford Avenue in Columbus.  Smith has been indicted for three counts of Rape (F-1) and two counts of Gross Sexual Imposition (F-3), for a total of five counts.  The defendant allegedly performed sex acts on his grandson both in the bathroom and bedroom of the home.  “If Smith is convicted for the rape of this child under 13 years of age, he faces up to life in prison,” O’Brien stated.  Arraignment for Smith is set for Wednesday, September 4^th, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
