TEENAGER INDICTED FOR RAPING WOMAN AT GUNPOINT ON BIKE TRAIL WHILE PUSHING HER CHILD IN A STROLLER

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This mother was pushing her child in a stroller on a bike trail when she was approached from behind by an unknown teenager with a gun who robbed and raped her.”  Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Desmond Lee Thomas, age 16 at the time of the incident, for the April 12th, 2019 sexual assault at gunpoint of a woman who was pushing her child in a stroller on the Camp Chase bike trail on the west side of Columbus.  Thomas was bound over from Juvenile Court and was indicted for three counts of Rape (F-1), two counts of Kidnapping (F-1), one count of Aggravated Robbery (F-1), one count of Robbery (F-2), and one count of Robbery (F-3), with all counts having Firearm Specifications, for a total of eight counts.  Arraignment for Thomas is set for Friday, September 6th, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
