Defendant: Abdirizak Abdullahi Aden

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This Uber driver picked up his 24 year old customer in the early morning hours, pulled off and stopped the vehicle in an unknown location, and raped his passenger in the back seat.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has indicted Abdirizak Abdullahi Aden, age 28, for one count of Rape (F-1).  At approximately 12:45 am on April 7th, 2019 police responded to a rape call on Quarry Crest Drive.  The victim stated she had been out for the evening and ordered an Uber to safely get home.  “This man knew she was alone and vulnerable,” O’Brien stated.  The Uber driver eventually took her to her apartment complex, but opted to drop her off at a random place in the complex.  Another Uber driver happened to be dropping off her fare at the same apartment complex and witnessed Aden pulling the crying victim out of the back seat of his car and then immediately driving away.  The female Uber driver called 911 and stayed with the victim until the police arrived.  Arraignment for Aden will be set in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus once he has been located and arrested.
