Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This case involves an innocent two year old toddler being beaten by his own biological mother.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned a two count indictment on Tina Ann Dayton, age 22, in connection to the October 7th, 2019 murder of her son C.S., age 2, that occurred in Dayton’s apartment located in the 4600 block of Refugee Road on the south east side of Columbus.  The counts in Dayton’s indictment include one count of Murder and one count of Endangering Children.  On that date, officers and medics were dispatched to the apartment regarding an injured two year old male.  Medics transported the toddler to Children’s Hospital where doctors observed various injuries and trauma to the child’s body.  The boy succumbed to his injuries the next day.  “Dayton fled the state and was apprehended in Florida on March 30th, 2020,” O’Brien stated.  O’Brien commended the Columbus Fire and Police Departments for their response to the crime scene and for their investigation of Dayton.  Arraignment for Dayton is set for Friday, April 17th at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 South High Street in downtown Columbus.
