JURY FINDS MAN GUILTY IN STABBING DEATH OF HIS GIRLFRIEND

Defendant: Jared Ferguson

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today following a jury trial in Franklin County, that Jared Ferguson, has been found guilty in the death of his girlfriend.  On March 24, 2019, Ferguson, age 37, caused the death of his girlfriend in the apartment they shared.   O’Brien stated, “After a 9-1-1 call was received police arrived at an apartment on Duncan Street and discovered Lisa Baker, age 60, unresponsive in the bedroom.”  Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.  It was determined later that she had been stabbed 16 times by Ferguson. 

Ferguson was charged with Murder, Tampering with Evidence and Domestic Violence.  A trial by a jury was held this week and Ferguson was found guilty of Murder and Tampering with Evidence.  At the request of the defendant the Domestic Violence count was tried to the judge who found Ferguson guilty.  Ferguson faces life in prison with no chance for parole for 15 years and 3 years for each of the other counts he was found guilty of.  Sentencing is scheduled for August 20, 2020.
