Defendant:
I would like to extend my gratitude to Commissioner Marilyn Brown and wish her well at the announcement of her impending retirement. Commissioner Brown was elected to her role with the Board of Commissioners in 2006, and has won re-election three times. She additionally served as the President of the Commissioners in 2008, 2011, and 2014. In addition to her years of public service to Franklin County’s Board of Commissioners, she is a former board chair and Public Affairs Director for the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, and also served as the Executive Director for the Pickerington Chamber of Commerce.
Commissioner Brown, in addition to being a public servant and good friend, has been a champion for matters of social justice. She has done extensive work within the Franklin County Office of Justice Policy Programs to advance racial equity and social justice. Commissioner Brown has also been an outspoken advocate on numerous civil rights issues; too many to name. Her successor will undoubtedly have big shoes to fill.
Commissioner, thank you for your years of service, selflessness, and friendship. Congratulations on your well deserved retirement. We at the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office wish you well in your future endeavors.
