Guilty Plea & Sentencings in Murder-for-Hire Case

Abraham Shears pleaded guilty to murder Monday morning in a September 2019 murder-for-hire case. Shears, 53, hired Donte Slash, 24, who then murdered John Clinedinst, a Columbus City Schools bus driver. The court sentenced Shears to the mandatory 15 years to life in prison. The court then sentenced Slash to 25 years to life in prison as a result of a guilty plea to aggravated murder from January of 2020. A third defendant, 47 year-old David Eisel, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in January of this year and is presently awaiting sentencing. The fourth and final defendant in the case, 21-year-old Tarayle Glick, has also been charged with aggravated murder. Glick’s trial is presently slated for September 13th.
