Rashad Short Sentenced Tuesday for Two Aggravated Murders, Other Convictions

Defendant: Rashad Short

Rashad Short, of Columbus, was sentenced Tuesday in a Franklin County courtroom to 8 years to life in prison. On Thursday, July 28, a jury convicted Short in the 2020 shooting deaths of Jordan Gray and Dante McCormick.

Judge Serrott imposed the following sentence:

•  Aggravated Murder (Jordan Gray): Life with the possibility of parole after 30 years with an 
additional three years for the gun specification.
•  Aggravated Burglary (Dante McCormick and surviving victim): An indeterminate sentence of six to 
nine years with an additional three years for the gun specification, with this sentence to be 
served consecutively.
•  Aggravated Murder (Dante McCormick): Life with the possibility of parole after 30 years with an 
additional three years for the gun specification, with this sentence to be served consecutively.
•  Attempted Murder (surviving victim): An indeterminate sentence of seven to 10.5 years with an 
additional three years for the gun specification, with this sentence to be served consecutively.

Short, also pled guilty to Possession of Drugs in another case. Judge Serrott imposed an indeterminate sentence of eight to 12 years to be served concurrently with the above sentences.

The total sentence in this case is 86 years to life with the entire 86 years being mandatory time.
