Trevor Sands Sentenced Following Guilty Conviction in Two Separate Columbus Murders

Trevor Sands learned on Tuesday, Oct. 4, that he will spend no less than an additional 46 years in prison for his role in the shooting deaths of Jeannot Mendy and Gerald Talley. Sands is currently serving a 15-year federal term for armed robbery.
A Franklin County jury on Sept. 19 found Trevor Sands guilty of two separate murders. Mr. Mendy was killed during a robbery attempt in Canal Winchester on April 24, 2017. Mr. Talley was killed during a robbery attempt in Columbus on May 8, 2017.
Judge Andy Miller imposed an aggregate term of 46 years to life sentence. The sentence will begin after the federal term concludes. Sands, 27, will be 82 years old before he is eligible for parole.
Franklin County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Steve Schott and Assistant United States Attorney Elizabeth Geraghty handled the case.
