Defendant: Alea Weil

The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced that the Franklin County grand jury returned a six-count indictment against Alea Weil, 29, of Marietta, Ga. Weil is charged with aggravated vehicular assault, vehicular assault, possession of a fentanyl-related compound, possession of cocaine, and two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse, or a combination of them.

On Feb. 13, 2023, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Adrian Wilson was stopped on the shoulder of I-71 north near State Route 665 (Exit 97) in Grove City. While Trooper Wilson was standing in front of his cruiser, Weil’s vehicle, travelling at a high rate of speed, left her lane. Her vehicle crashed into the rear of the cruiser, causing it to strike Trooper Wilson, who was seriously injured after being thrown onto the hood and hitting the windshield.

During the investigation, cocaine and fentanyl were found in Weil’s vehicle. It was later determined that Weil was under the influence of cocaine and fentanyl at the time of the crash.
