Eric Shaw Pleads Guilty to Robbery in Deadly 2021 Shooting

Eric Shaw pled guilty on Wednesday, March 8, to robbery with a gun specification in the shooting death of Anthony Dickerson in December 2021.

Shaw, 21, of Columbus, was sentenced to a 6- to 7½-year prison sentence. He will be eligible for post-release control (PRC) supervision sometime after 6 years.

On December 3, 2021, Shaw, along with Deshajuan Carpenter, 19, of Columbus, attempted to rob Dickerson at 1844 Oak Grove Court in Columbus. A Columbus Division of Police investigation determined Carpenter shot and killed Dickerson during the robbery.

In September 2022, Carpenter pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter with a gun specification. He agreed to a 10- to 13½ -year prison sentence, with eligibility for PRC at some point in time after 10 years.
