Defendant: Brandon Joiner
A Franklin County jury on Monday found Brad Madison, 37, of Columbus, guilty of four charges related to the 2022 shooting death of Brandon Joiner, 33.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Steven Schott and Deputy Chief Counsel Anthony Pierson prosecuted the case for the prosecutor’s office.
Investigators with the Columbus Division of Police determined that, in the early morning hours of May 16, 2022, Madison shot Joiner multiple times as they were both driving separate vehicles on State Route 104 west of Haul Road. CPD officers arrested Madison without incident on May 25, 2022. The Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office credits Detective Darren Egelhoff and other members of CPD for doing an excellent job investigating the case.
Madison was convicted of two counts of murder, one count of aggravated murder and one count having a weapon while under a disability. Each count included a three-year firearm specification. Madison faces a minimum sentence of 26 years in life in prison, with a maximum sentence of life without parole.
Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Dan Hawkins, who presided over the trial, has scheduled sentencing for October 23 at 9 a.m.
