Defendant: Jonathan Pigram

Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Carl Aveni today sentenced Jonathan Pigram, 39, to life in prison for the March 2023 murders of Cornet Powell and Dawn Dunn, both 41, and the attempted murder of two other people. He will be eligible for parole no earlier than 52 years and possibly not until 57-1/2 years (the additional 5-1/2 years are at the discretion of the Ohio Department of Correction).

Assistant prosecuting attorneys John Gripshover and John Cornely prosecuted the case.

Pigram, of Columbus, pleaded guilty in October to two counts of murder for the deaths of Powell and Dunn, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of weapons under disability on an unrelated case.

On March 1, 2023, eyewitnesses reported to police that Pigram had confronted Powell and Dunn outside of a pub on Cleveland Avenue in Columbus and opened fire, killing both of them. Pigram shot at two additional people, hitting one in the face and missing the other. Columbus Division of Police detectives determined that Pigram did not know any of the victims.
