Franklin County Prosecutor Shayla Favor is celebrating a successful first 100 days in office. With a bold agenda centered on transparency, accountability, and transformative justice, Favor has wasted no time in delivering on campaign promises and reimagining how prosecution works in Franklin County.

Since taking office, Prosecutor Favor has launched a strategic realignment of the Prosecutor’s Office, creating new units designed to improve efficiency, address complex and violent crimes, and expand alternatives to incarceration. Among the most notable achievements are the creation of the Strategic Prosecution Division, the Discovery Unit, and the Nuisance Abatement Unit—each playing a critical role in reshaping how justice is administered in Franklin County.

“We came into this office ready to get to work, and in just 100 days, we’ve begun building a justice system that reflects our values—smart, fair, people-centered, and focused on lasting safety,” said Franklin County Prosecutor Shayla Favor. “This is just the beginning. Our team is energized, our direction is clear, and we are committed to delivering justice that works for everyone in Franklin County.”

Key Accomplishments in the First 100 Days:

  • Established specialized units within the Strategic Prosecution Division:

    • Crime Strategies Unit to track patterns and anticipate emerging threats

    • Specialized Prosecution Unit for complex and high-impact crimes (e.g. child abuse, officer-involved shootings, financial crime)

    • Innovation Unit to advance diversion, rehabilitation, and reintegration

    • Conviction Integrity Unit to review claims of wrongful conviction

  • Restructured the Criminal Division into focused teams:

    • Violent Crime Unit (homicides, gang, domestic violence)

    • General Felony Unit (assault, theft, drug trafficking, burglary)

    • Strategic Operations Unit (training, discovery, litigation support)

  • Created the Discovery Unit to reduce case backlogs and pretrial delays and expedite the trial process by improving evidence-sharing.

  • Launched the Nuisance Abatement Unit to reduce crime hotspots, address neglected properties, and improve neighborhood safety

  • Convened juvenile court judges and county leaders to coordinate summer strategies to prevent youth violence

  • Developed new Workplace Harassment Prevention Training

  • Deepened community engagement through partnerships with community organizations and attending civic events.

  • We’re also investing in office spaces to be more conducive to the needs of our team members and the people they serve.

  • Held the first-ever all-staff meeting, bringing together 250+ employees for updates and open dialogue about office direction and priorities.

Prosecutor Favor’s team has worked to strengthen internal culture by forming the People, Operations & Culture team, which promotes collaboration and open dialogue. This initiative has led to internal changes, including renaming conference rooms after Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall and Amy Van Culin, a beloved Special Victims Unit prosecutor who passed away from cancer in 2022.

Prosecutor Favor plans to build on this momentum by scaling successful initiatives, deepening inter-agency partnerships, and continuing to center transparency and community voice in all aspects of her office’s work.
