Defendant: Michael T. Davis
A Columbus man accused of raping multiple women from the Linden area will spend at least the next 17 years in prison.
Michael T. Davis, 58, pleaded guilty on Aug. 29 to five counts of rape in connection with sexual assaults that took place between 2013 and 2024. His plea put an end to a trial that began on Aug. 25.
Davis was sentenced yesterday to 17 years in prison following the joint recommendation of the prosecution and the defense, with the agreement of his victims. Depending on his behavior in prison, he could serve up to 22.5 years.
Case Background
Law enforcement officials say Davis regularly picked up female sex workers, brought them to his Earl Avenue home or nearby hotels, and held them at knifepoint while he sexually assaulted them for hours and sometimes days. Detectives found more than 75 videos on Davis’ cell phone that showed him engaging in sexual conduct with the women.
In May of 2024, Davis was arrested on multiple charges of kidnapping and rape and has been held without bond in the Franklin County Jail.
Davis’ wife, Marcia Davis, also faces charges related to her husband’s crimes. She is accused of paying off her husband’s victims so they would not go to police and is facing two felony counts of obstructing justice and two misdemeanor counts of intimidation of crime victims or witnesses. Her next court date is set for Sept. 5.
