18 YEAR OLD INDICTED FOR FATAL SHOOTING OF 18 YEAR OLD VICTIM FROM NORTH COLUMBUS

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This man shot and killed the 18 year old victim, is believed to have fled the state, and was arrested after returning to Central Ohio.” Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned two separate indictments against Ralph Edward Barrie, age 18. The charges include one count Aggravated Murder with Specifications, two counts Murder with Specifications, two counts Aggravated Robbery with Specifications, one count Aggravated Burglary with Specifications, and one count Assault, for a total of seven counts. All of the counts with Specifications carry both 3 and 6 year Firearm Specifications. On May 1st, 2017, Barrie shot and killed Alexander J. Lorms, age 18, inside a house located at 1941 Republic Avenue on the Northeast side of Columbus. Medics arrived at the scene and Lorms was pronounced dead at the scene. On May 29th, following Barrie’s arrest, Barrie assaulted a Deputy at the Franklin County Corrections Center, resulting in the Assault count against Barrie. Barrie will be arraigned on Friday, June 9th at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
