MAN INDICTED IN CONNECTION TO FENTANYL DRUG OVERDOSE DEATH FOR SELLING THE DRUGS THAT CAUSED THE OVERDOSE

Defendant: Eric Banks

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien stated, “This defendant sold Fentanyl to a person in a nursing home, which resulted in the victim’s death.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Eric Banks, age 25, for one count of Involuntary Manslaughter (F-1), one count of Corrupting Another With Drugs (F-2), and two counts of Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs (F-4), for a total of four counts.  It is alleged that on February 10th, 2017, Banks went to the Manor at Whitehall Nursing Home located at 4805 Langley Avenue, where Banks sold Fentanyl to Dale Rogers, age 56.  Rogers was found unresponsive and not breathing by the nursing staff, who started CPR and called 911.  Whitehall Medics administered Narcan and transported Rogers to the hospital, where he died shortly thereafter.  O’Brien stated, “Through investigation, we have once again been able to identify the person responsible for selling the Fentanyl in this case that ultimately took this victim’s life.”  Arraignment for Banks was today and he was given $150,000 surety and appearance bonds and a $20,000 recognizance bond.
