Adult Suspect In Columbus Convenience Store Murder And Madison County Travelcenters Of America Crime Spree Indicted

Defendant: Nathaniel Brunner
Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Nathaniel Luke Brunner, age 18, one count Aggravated Murder, one count Murder, one count (F-1) Attempted Murder, three counts (F-1) Aggravated Robbery, one count (F-2) Felonious Assault, all counts with a firearm specification, and one count (F-1) Having a Weapon While Under Disability, for a total of eight counts. The indictment alleges that on July 24, 2013, Brunner was involved in a crime spree that began with the shooting death of Imran Ashgar, a clerk at the Convenient Plus Food Mart on E. Livingston Avenue. It further alleges that three days later on July 27th, Brunner exited the TravelCenters of America truck stop at Rt. 42 and I-70 just east of London in Madison County where he and an accomplice approached William Rudd, age 39, who was pumping gas into his vehicle. The two teens demanded his car and shot him in the head when he resisted their attempts to take his vehicle. Arraignment for Brunner will be next Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013 at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2A at 345 S. High Street. On October 7th, there will be a bindover hearing in Juvenile Court before Judge Kim Browne for Devonere Simmonds, the juvenile allegedly involved in this crime spree.
