DAUGHTER INDICTED FOR INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER FOR INJECTING HEROIN AND CAUSING THE DEATH OF HER FATHER

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This daughter prepared and injected heroin into her father’s arm which caused his death”. Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned a two count indictment against Lindsay Meaghan Newkirk AKA Lindsey Newkirk, age 27, for one count of Involuntary Manslaughter (F-1) and one count of Corrupting Another With Drugs (F-2), in connection to the February 13, 2016 overdose death of her father Leonard P. Newkirk, age 55. It is alleged that after injecting heroin in her own arm, the daughter then injected heroin in her father’s arm. When she woke up the following morning, her father was unresponsive. O’Brien commended the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Heroin Overdose Prevention and Education Task Force (HOPE) for their investigation and involvement in this case. Newkirk’s arraignment is set for Wednesday, July 27th at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in Columbus.
