Defendant: Jazmin Demota

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Jazmin Rodriguez Demota for four counts (F-3) Tampering with Records, one count (F-4) Theft, and two counts (F-5) Forgery, for a total of seven counts. Between August 1 and November 14, 2011,  it is alleged that Jazmin Rodriguez Demota submitted false billing certificates and forged signatures to collect her fees from the State of Ohio for daycare services that were not provided.   The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation after news reports about day care contractors being paid by Franklin County Job and Family Services for work not performed. “This defendant took advantage of a system designed to help low income families and defrauded the State of $18,000”, O’Brien stated. O’Brien commended the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for their thorough investigation involving public expenditures.
