Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “Golsby faces the death penalty for murdering 21 year old OSU senior Reagan Tokes.  He is also faces decades in prison for a series of robberies in the German Village area.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an 18 count indictment on Brian Lee Golsby, age 29.  Counts   1-9 are in connection to the February 8/9, 2017 aggravated murder of OSU senior Reagan Delaney Tokes, age 21.  Counts 10-17 the indictment are for six aggravated robberies Golsby committed in German Village and the surrounding area between January 24th and February 7th, 2017.  The Weapons Under Disability Count 18 in the indictment relates back to Reagan Tokes and is based on Golsby’s May 27, 2011 convictions for Robbery and Attempted Rape.

On Wednesday evening, February 8th, Reagan was working at Bodega Café located at 1044 N. High Street in the Short North, and left her place of employment around 9:45 pm to walk to her car.  Shortly thereafter it is alleged that Golsby forced Reagan into her car and made her drive to Chase Bank located at 833 S. High Street, the Huntington Bank located at 1044 S. High Street, and eventually to Scioto Grove Metro Park located at 5172 Jackson Pike in Grove City where she was murdered.  Reagan’s body was found in the grass shortly after 1:00 pm the next day near the park entrance and was pronounced dead at the scene.  On Friday morning, February 10th, Reagan’s silver 1999 Honda Acura was located in the 700 block of Oakwood Avenue.  The vehicle was processed by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.  A cigarette butt located in Reagan’s car was examined and a DNA profile was uploaded into the CODIS database linking the DNA match to Golsby.  Shortly thereafter, Golsby was arrested at his residence located at 1049 Forest Street.

The counts in Golsby’s indictment associated with Reagan Tokes include Aggravated Murder, Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping, Rape, and Tampering with Evidence.  The indictment also includes a combination of the following Specifications:  Firearm, Sexual Motivation, Sexually Violent Predator, and Repeat Violent Offender Specifications.  The Specifications to the Aggravated Murder counts that make Golsby eligible for the death penalty include committing the homicide during the commission of Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping, and Rape , killing a person to escape apprehension, and killing a person with prior calculation and design.

The counts in Golsby’s indictment associated with the German Village area cases include Aggravated Robbery and Kidnapping.  Most of the counts in that part of the indictment also include Firearm and/or Repeat Violent Offender Specifications.

O’Brien commended the Grove City Police Dept. for the investigation and quick apprehension of Golsby, aided by the quick work of BCI in the DNA hit.  Arraignment for this death penalty case is set for Monday, April 3rd, 2017, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 South High Street in downtown Columbus.
