Defendant: Tina Dorsey
Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Tina L. Dorsey, age 43, for one count (F-3) Theft in Office. Dorsey was an Area Treasurer for the Columbus Schools system and was assigned to Columbus East High School, Champion, Monroe, and Clearbrook Middle Schools, as well as Eastgate, Trevitt, Beatty Park, Fairwood, and Ohio Avenue Elementary Schools. In December of 2012, State Auditor Dave Yost received information from the Columbus City Schools that Dorsey was the subject in an internal investigation by the school system for theft. The Auditor ordered a special audit and the results were forwarded to Prosecutor Ron O’Brien. It is alleged that between December 19, 2011 to November 28, 2012, there was a total of $27,741.69 in missing funds that had been received by Dorsey from special events at the schools. “If found guilty on these charges, this former Treasurer in the Columbus School District faces up to 5 years incarceration”, O’Brien stated.
