FORMER WESTERVILLE TEACHER AND MATH TUTOR INDICTED FOR RAPE AND SEX CHARGES INVOLVING TWO CHILDREN

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This former teacher and math tutor sexually assaulted two of his young students for over two years.” Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Daniel Erin Burris, age 45, for two counts of Rape (F-1), two counts of Gross Sexual Imposition (F-3), and four counts of Unlawful Sexual Conduct With a Minor (F-3), for a total of eight counts in connection to the on-going sexual abuse of two children. The indictment alleges that the offenses occurred over the time spans of June 1, 2011 to July 31, 2012 and August 1, 2012 to July 31, 2013. Burris was a former employee for Westerville City Schools, a former Boy Scout Ranger, and a former math tutor for students. O’Brien commended the Upper Arlington Police Department for their thorough investigation of this case. “Burris faces a potential life sentence in prison due to rape of a child under the age of thirteen,” O’Brien stated. Arraignment is set for today, November 28th, 2016 at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B, at 345 S. High Street.
