Defendant: Zina Roberson

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment on Zina Somone Roberson, age 49, for one unclassified count of Aggravated Murder in connection to the June 26, 1987 murder of 77 year-old Anna Mae Florence at her apartment located at 2382 Delavan Drive in Columbus. Roberson was arrested in Georgia on August 15, 2013, after investigators said her DNA was linked to physical evidence removed from the crime scene. “The defendant faces a potential sentence of 30 years to life in prison”, O’Brien stated. O’Brien commended the Columbus, Ohio and Rome, Georgia Police Departments for their diligence and continued investigation of the case. O’Brien further stated, “DNA technology has advanced substantially over the past several decades, which increases our chances of solving cases like this where evidence has been preserved”. Arraignment for Roberson will be set for a future date.
