Greek Orthodox Priest To Appear In Court On Child Sex Charges

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the former acting dean at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbus, Patrick Nicholas Hughes, age 56, is expected to appear in court this afternoon to waive his right to indictment followed by the filing of a Bill of Information and subsequent guilty plea to the Bill of Information. Hughes was arrested last week on one count of attempted rape (F-2) and one count of attempted unlawful conduct with a minor (F-4) in connection to an alleged meeting that Hughes set up where he thought he was meeting with two boys, ages 9 and 14, to engage in sexual activity. The hearing is expected to commence this afternoon at 1:30 pm before Judge Serrott in courtroom 6E at 345 S. High Street.
