Prosecutor Ron O’Brien commented, “Thanks to the collaborative efforts of many individuals over the past six years, we are able to prosecute the man responsible for this avoidable shooting which has had a tragic impact on our victim.  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment on Drakkar Dashawn Groce, currently age 25, in connection to the May 27, 2010 late evening shooting of Alexandria Reese, currently age 31, that occurred at the intersection of Atcheson and Trevitt Streets in Columbus.  Groce has been indicted for two counts of Felonious Assault (F-2), both with Firearm Specifications.  On the night of the shooting, Alexandria Reese and her friend were driving west bound on Atcheson Street, when the two women were caught in gunfire that broke out in the neighborhood.  Groce, who was 19 at the time, was one of the men involved in the exchange of gunfire.  Reese, who was 25 years old at the time, was shot in her neck and was left permanently paralyzed as a result of being struck.  O’Brien commended the Columbus Police Department for their ongoing investigation of this case.  Arraignment for Groce is set for Wednesday, June 8th, 2016, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 South High Street.
