Defendant: Quindell Sherman

Today, Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned a one count indictment on Quindell Sherman, age 20, for one unclassified count of Aggravated Murder in connection to the November 16, 2010 death of his 3 month old son Jayden Mitchell. A Plea Agreement has been reached and was also filed with the Clerk. “The defendant faces up to a potential sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole”, O’Brien stated.

Columbus Police received a domestic-violence call around 10 pm to 1121 E. 16th Avenue. It is alleged the defendant threw the baby to the pavement several times before running and hiding with the baby in a garbage bin, where police found them both. The baby was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:39 pm.

“The indictment accounts for the death of an innocent baby”, O”Brien said. The victim’s family does not wish to make any comments until the conclusion of the case. Arraignment will be set for January 21, 2011, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 1A.
