Defendant: James E. Smith Jr., AKA Bubbie

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “James E. Smith Jr., AKA Bubbie, a large-scale drug trafficker, was found guilty late yesterday for his role in the distribution of multiple kilograms of Cocaine into the Central Ohio area.”  Following a three day trial, Smith was convicted by the jury yesterday of two counts of Possession of Cocaine and two counts of Trafficking in Cocaine, all felonies of the first degree.  O’Brien stated, “On August 12, 2015, Smith signed for and received a package from California which had contained 6 kilograms of cocaine.  Law enforcement, having been alerted to this delivery was able to intercept the package and remove all but one kilogram which was delivered to Smith.”  After receiving the box, Smith immediately took the parcel, put it into his car and drove away from the residence.  “Upon being stopped by law enforcement, the box with one kilogram was recovered along with an additional 6 kilograms in a different box which was in the trunk of Smith’s car. The total value for the 12 kilograms of Cocaine is approximately $500,000,” O’Brien further stated.  When he is sentenced on November 2nd, Smith faces up to 24 years in prison for his role in the distribution of Cocaine.
