Defendant: Alex Barnhart
Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Alex James Barnhart, age 27, for one count Contaminating Substance for Human Consumption or Use (F-1) and one count Possession of LSD (F-5), for a total of two counts. On February 17, 2011, a woman attending a concert at Lifestyle Communities Pavilion, located at 405 Neil Avenue, reported to staff that she witnessed the defendant allegedly dropping something in another woman’s drink. The substance that was observed being dropped into the drink was tested at the Columbus Police Crime Lab and was found to be Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD). “Our office rarely indicts cases under this statute because there are generally not eyewitnesses to the offender placing substances into the food or drink of innocent victims”, O’Brien stated. O’Brien further stated, “LSD is among the most potent mood-changing hallucinogens, which can result in trips that last for hours”. Arraignment for Barnhart is set for Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2A at 345 S. High Street.
