MAN FOUND GUILTY OF AGGRAVATED MURDER IN THE DEATH OF SISTER’S FIANCE

Defendant: Sherrod Gamble
Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that a Franklin County Jury found Sherrod Gamble guilty of Aggravated Murder with Firearm and Repeat Violent Offender Specifications.
The victim, Kieta Smith, was the fiance of Gamble’s sister. The two men had been involved in an argument earlier during the evening of May 6, 2015. Smith was shot four times by Gamble with a handgun and died later at the hospital. Gamble fled the scene and was later apprehended on May 25, 2015 at a home on East Weber Road.
Judge Cocroft has ordered a Pre-Sentence Investigation. Prosecutor O’Brien stated that the offender faces the possibility of Life Without Parole plus an additional 16 years for possessing a handgun and for the repeat violent offender specifications. Defendant will be sentenced on April 21st at 9:00 a.m.
