MAN FOUND GUILTY OF AGGRAVATED MURDER SENTENCED TO LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE PLUS AN ADDITIONAL 16 YEARS IN PRISON

Defendant: Sherrod Larry Doneil Gamble

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that Sherrod Larry Doneil Gamble, age 37, was sentenced today after being found guilty following a jury trial on March 18, 2016 of aggravated murder with a gun specification in connection to the May 6, 2015 murder of Kieta C. Smith, age 34.  Gamble was also convicted of being a repeat violent offender and illegally possessing a firearm based on a previous conviction of voluntary manslaughter from 1998 where Gamble shot a neighbor to death on the south side of Columbus.  The 2015 shooting death of Kieta Smith happened following an argument at an apartment located at 368 Roosevelt Avenue on the east side of Columbus.  Gamble was sentenced today to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional sixteen years.
